At Adani, we recognise that a resilient future depends on thriving natural ecosystems. Our nature‑positive approach integrates biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and the protection of critical natural capital into our growth priorities. By embedding nature into decision‑making and aligning with global frameworks such as the Taskforce on Nature‑related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), Adani Portfolio companies are restoring habitats, strengthening ecosystem services, and addressing nature‑related risks, placing nature at the foundation of sustainable and responsible development.

Leading Species Conservation

We recognise biodiversity and species conservation as critical to ecosystem resilience. Our approach assesses and manages impacts on species and habitats, aligned with the Kunming‑Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, to deliver measurable, community‑inclusive conservation outcomes.

Olive Ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) conservation in Odisha

Supporting Olive Ridley sea turtle conservation in Odisha, we protect key nesting sites like Gahirmatha and Rushikulya. Through close collaboration with the Forest Department and local NGOs, our ports utilize dark-sky lighting, eco-friendly dredging, and community campaigns. These strategic measures effectively safeguard mass nesting from habitat threats and commercial fisheries.

Enhancing Coastal Resilience & Community Collaboration

Our approach integrates mangrove restoration, biodiversity enhancement, and community engagement to build coastal resilience. These coastal ecosystems act as natural buffers, protecting livelihoods and operations from climate risks such as storms, erosion, and sea‑level rise.

Mangroves Afforestation for coastal resilience

APSEZ is building coastal resilience through nature-based bio-shields, targeting 5,000 hectares of mangrove and 1,200 of terrestrial plantation. Key initiatives in Bharuch, Tankari Bioshield-1, Tuna Bio-Shield (Kandla), and a 3-year habitat restoration project in Guneri Village, partnered with local institutions, protect shorelines and communities while delivering enduring ecological and social value.

Conserving Native Species

At Adani, biodiversity drives strategic value and operational resilience. Aligning with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, we prioritize native species conservation to deliver measurable outcomes for nature and communities, strengthening our social license to operate.

Pioneering efforts on Growing Native Species – Sal (Shorea robusta)

At our sites, Adani Natural Resources is pioneering biodiversity conservation through tree transplantation (using specialized transplanters) and grafting of native Sal (Shorea robusta) trees. This initiative preserves mature trees, reduces ecological loss, and actively engages local communities to build environmental stewardship.

Creating Carbon Sink

Adani Portfolio combines targeted efforts for tree plantation & restoration leading to large scale biological sequestration. This directly supports India’s NDC goal of creating 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes of CO₂ equivalent carbon sink ambition.

100 Million Trees Plantation & Conservation

The Adani Group is driving global ecological regeneration with a pledge to plant and conserve 100 million trees by 2030 under the WEF’s 1t.org initiative. To date, Adani Portfolio companies have already nurtured and restored approximately 40 million trees.
