Wind Turbine

Adani Wind, the wind energy solutions division of Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), is focused on enabling the global transition to clean energy.

Aligned with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, Adani Wind is further strengthening the domestic wind manufacturing ecosystem. The company operates an integrated manufacturing facility for Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) located in Mundra, Gujarat. With a vision to become a leading global wind Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Adani Wind is ramping up the Mundra facility to a capacity of 5GW. Backed by an in-house R&D team and technology collaborations with leading academic and research institutions, Adani Wind is developing technologically advanced, next-generation turbines.

Adani Wind has developed one of the world’s most powerful onshore wind turbines, with a capacity of 5.2MW - a game changer for the global wind energy sector. Developed in collaboration with Wind2Energy (W2E) from Germany, the 5.2MW turbine features a 160-metre rotor diameter and a swept area of 20,106 square metres, equivalent to four football fields. The tip height ranges from 200 to 220 metres, making it taller than the Statue of Unity.

This turbine operates efficiently at wind speeds as low as 3 metres per second (mps) and up to 20 mps, reaching optimum power production at around 12 mps. Conforming to IECRE - IEC 61400 standards, this model is capable of powering approximately 4,000 homes. It is also listed in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers published by India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

Adani Wind is expanding its footprint and creating a diverse product portfolio suitable for all wind regimes in India and globally. We aim to be recognised as a driving force in renewable energy, fostering sustainable growth and environmental stewardship by creating wind energy solutions for a cleaner and greener planet.
