Welcome to the Guwahati International Airport!
Guwahati, one of the major cities in the eastern part of our country, located in the south bank of mighty Brahmaputra, amidst majestic hills and lush green valleys is more importantly the gateway to the Northeast of India. Guwahati Airport, named after the doyen Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi who shaped the recent geography of this region is a major hub for all kind of travelers descending to this region. Guwahati Airport is the 10th busiest airport in the country in terms of passengers’ annual footfall.
Guwahati International Airport Limited, the Adani Group company assumed the responsibility of Operations, Management and Development of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport with effect from 8 October 2021. The Adani Group is blessed with the opportunity to serve the region by developing the airport to an economic hub and by ensuring unique passengers’ experience. Assam and the Northeastern states are hilly terrain, geographically difficult for commute but are enriched with several rare products. Guwahati Airport has a natural potential to become a “regional hub” to more than dozen airports, situated in the region by connecting major cities of the country through Guwahati. It may enable any citizen residing in the region may touch a major city anywhere in the county and come back home within 24 hours. Guwahati Airport is also a nearer destination of India from many South-Asian countries. Guwahati could be a popular hub for international passengers too bound toward the east. Besides, the region grows the best quality of vegetables, fruits, spices that have global appeal. Therefore, it provides another potential to this airport to become a perishable cargo hub. Guwahati International Airport Limited is actively working on it to explore the hitherto hidden potential and glory of this region by turning the airport into a commercial hub that could bring about economic growth at the grassroot level.
A brand-new integrated terminal building with the state-of-the-art facilities is upcoming near the present terminal. It will be capable of housing five times more passengers than the present terminal does now. Decorated with local art and sculptures, “Kopou-ful” (Foxtail Orchid) as its inspiring theme the upcoming terminal is likely to make all passengers and dwellers in the northeast happy and proud. It is all set to be operational towards the end of 2024.
The inspiring mantra of the Airport team is the Gateway to Goodness. We, at Adani strive every day, 24 X 7 to offer our passengers, customers and stakeholders a memorable experience at LGBI Airport, Guwahati.
